I visited Tint Genius on June 12, 2025, at around 3:15 PM to have my Mercedes C-Class tinted. While the tint film itself was applied decently, the installation process caused significant damage to my vehicle's interior that has severely compromised my sound quality with a persistent, distracting rattle.
The Damage vs. "Wear and Tear": Immediately after the service, I noticed a new rattling noise coming from my rear deck. My sound system was crisp and in perfect condition prior to this appointment. Today (December 16th), the panel mesh grill covering was removed to investigate the root cause of the issue, and I found that the rear speaker grill/lattice had been broken in multiple places (see attached photos).
To be clear: This damage is not "wear and tear." The broken pieces are internal structural clips and lattice work that are protected from the sun and touch. These components do not spontaneously shatter; they break when they are improperly pried up or forced during removal. The jagged edges of the breaks (visible in the photos) indicate force was applied incorrectly.
FYI, the "Speaker" Excuse: The issue is not blown speakers. The speakers themselves still function perfectly. The unbearable noise is caused by the broken pieces of plastic paneling left loose by the technicians, which now vibrate violently against the speaker cones.
The Liability Clause: I am incredibly frustrated that I have to pay out-of-pocket to fix this. I suspect their contract clause stating they are "not liable for damages" is relied upon to avoid accountability for this specific type of technician negligence. A waiver should cover accidental issues, not improper disassembly of a customer's property.
[WARNING] Be advised: If you have a vehicle that requires interior disassembly for tinting, I cannot recommend this location. I went here because of the “high” reviews, but the damages truly outweigh the overall application. I deeply regret not driving to a specialist in Dunwoody/Chamblee as I originally planned; I chose Tint Genius for convenience, and it has cost me significantly in the long run.
